Mining
Our work in mining
The mineral extraction process is a complex one, with several disciplines working in parallel to the operation and which converge towards a common goal: extracting mineral substances from previously identified deposits that are technically and economically viable.
Of course the economic side matters, but if there is no technical feasibility to extract these substances, there is no financial resource that will solve the problem. Taking all technical precautions, Mirante’s surveying services are the primary support for the mine operation to be technically feasible and optimally executed.
At Mirante, we apply the most advanced technologies in search of the best results. The use of on-board drones with laser sensors or RGB sensors is an example of this. This technology provides remote data collection, guaranteeing highly accurate data, minimizing the risks for the field team and minimizing the time it takes to complete the job.

Using highly precise equipment, we mark the boundaries, angles, slopes and beds of the ramps according to the designs provided by the client’s technical department. We monitor the cutting and backfilling activities carried out by the machines, ensuring that all movement is within the parameters previously defined by the team.
On other service fronts, we monitor slopes based on geometric leveling to control settlements in dams. Where applicable, we use the Leica TM60 Robotic Station, which allows us to read dam monitoring instruments dynamically and with millimetre precision.

On the mining front, our topography team marks out boreholes and rock blasting holes, as well as various planialtimetric surveys for demarcating Decrees, easement strips and cadastral surveys, among others.
With the use of Total Stations and GNSS RTK, we ensure that the advance of the pit stays within the mine plan according to the client’s economic geology studies and strategic planning.
In environmental projects, Mirante carries out isodeclivity mapping, registration of streams and springs, infrastructure networks, areas for plant suppression, confrontation with neighboring properties, among other services.
In the areas of dams and water resources, we carry out bathymetry/topobathymetry to identify the CAV curve (Elevation x Area x Volume) and thus subsidize studies of the useful life of the structure, calculations of sedimentation of materials at the bottom of the dam, among other products.
In recurring services, our data provides extremely relevant information so that clients can reliably plan and monitor the behavior of these structures.
